A birthday and a bachelorette party

Do you ever have one of those weekends that you wish you could do over again because it was so awesome? This past weekend was one of those for me! Friday I turned the big 2-9, and Saturday was my friend, Jessica’s, bachelorette party. Here’s a little recap of what went down (sadly, my camera did — literally. Sniff. More on that in a min…)

Friday

I entered into the last year of my 20s on Friday. It was fabulous! My day was filled with well wishes from friends and family, presents, cards and even a flower delivery from my sweet husband. I’m one lucky gal!

I haven’t been that hungry over the last few days, and Friday morning was no exception. I did have a coffee craving, so I got an iced sugar-free hazelnut/coconut latte with soy milk. It was worth every sip!

Lori and Jessica took me out to lunch, along with another coworker and Lori’s husband. I was in the mood for sushi, so we went to one of my fav Japanese restaurants. What the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets. :)

Hot green tea and water

Tasty seaweed salad

California and spicy tuna rolls — I took 4 home. I was stuffed!

JD and I tried a new tapas restaurant that night for meal number 3. We split:

  • Half a dozen raw oysters on the half shell
  • Sweet potato fries with blue cheese dip
  • Crawfish cakes
  • Grilled scallops with an amazing balsamic and salad

In true tapas fashion, all the portions were small, and we had a couple satisfying bites of each dish. My camera battery died, so no pics. Boo! I’m not sure what didn’t settle well with me, (my guess is the oysters) but I was SO sick the rest of the night. No more raw for me! I wouldn’t want to live that part over again, but for the most part, it was an amazingly wonderful day! ♥

Saturday

My tummy still felt lousy Saturday morning, so I had plain Ezekiel toast and hot tea for breakfast. I had all intentions of doing a long workout that day, but my stomach ailment pretty much threw that out the window. JD and I went out to run a few errands, and I got some better medicine that truly did the trick. I felt 90 percent better by lunch time, which was a Chick-fil-A spicy grilled chicken wrap, a couple of JD’s waffle fries and a big bowl of collard greens. I started to feel a little queasy again, so I put half the wrap in the fridge and took more meds. Much better!

Jessica’s bachelorette party was Saturday night, and I got to wear my little gold and black dress I bought last weekend. I felt like a hottie! :) Ha Ha!

We had such a fantastic night! Our group surprised Jessica with a limo to take us around town.

We had a delicious meal at one of the best Mexican places in town. I was so involved with eating and talking, I forgot to take a pic! But, I had a few chips and salsa, and my main dish was grilled chicken with shrimp and spinach on top, with a brown sauce that was mmmm, good! The side of veggies were nothing to frown at either!

I did get some good cardio in with several hours of dancing. Soon after this pic was taken, my camera slipped out of my hand and broke. :(

Love this bride! Less than 3 weeks til the wedding!

Today was pretty low key…that is, until I got a call from my mom. My poor dad was stung on the tongue by a wasp! It landed in his coffee, and he didn’t see it until it was painfully too late. His tongue swelled so much it covered his teeth. Poor Dad! He spent most of the day in the ER getting pumped with steroids, and JD and I went to visit him. He’s doing much better, thankfully!

We also took my battered camera to get an estimate on repairing it. We found out it would cost about what the camera is worth to fix it, so JD bought me a new one. It’s not the $1,700 Nikon I lusted for 45 minutes over, but it’s definitely a cool piece of equipment. I love it! (Thanks, honey!)

While I’ve been pretty good with my eating, I have to admit, I haven’t formally counted calories since Friday. Eeekk!! I’m back to it tomorrow, along with my regular fitness schedule. I can’t afford to get lazy, especially at the beginning of eating season. :)

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Night!
